Our Dojo & Training Philosophy
The Vancouver Bujinkan Taka-Seigi Dojo is lead by head-instructor Dai-Shihan Paul Mann (15th Dan) while Shihan Sean Mann (10th Dan), Shihan Laurence Butler (10th Dan), and Shidoshi Ted Delaportas (6th Dan) lead foundational-skills development and intermediate densho-based classes.
Our dojo is a unique learning environment that allows students to grow at their own speed. Traditional martial arts schools are sometimes overly restrictive by limiting the class-content to the student's grade. The problem with this approach is that individual progress becomes hindered because the natural strengths that we all are born with don't get utilized efficiently.
Our dojo is comprised of dedicated martial artists who have invested a significant amount of time and money on their own training over the years. The dojo leaders have over 65 years of combined martial arts experience in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, and many additional years studying Karate, Kung Fu, Judo, Kick Boxing, and Hapkido. This allows the instructors to speak and teach budo taijutsu with a healthy perspective.
All that being said, the goal is to have fun while studying one of the most practical self-defense systems in the world.
